June 4 Thursday Morning Ride

Post date: Jun 8, 2015 12:25:49 PM

June 4 Ride Report (Fred Newton): We had 21 riders - impressive turnout, since we started at 9:30 am instead of the usual 10:00 am time (to beat the heat of the day). Everyone got the time right except one rider, who was cycling to the start and met us going the other way just after we rolled out of Slater's. Another rider couldn't do the tour because she brought only one cycling shoe, but other than that, everyone was in good spirits.

For this particular Thursday, the "heat of the day" was a starting temperature of 55 degrees and ending with 63 degrees ... well, one never knows.

The group handled the 1900 feet of climbing over 29 miles with aplomb and enthusiasm. The ride leader missed the turn from Brown to Sugar as he was in deep discussion at the time, but other than that, no one got lost and there were no mishaps. Thanks to Betsy Taylor-Kennedy for sweeping and to the multiple arrows. Most of us enjoyed a very social lunch at Slater’s afterwards.

Riders included Fred Newton (leader), Betsy T-K, Brian O'C, Dick L, Dom J, Don K, Gordon T, Janet M, Joe M, Lindy K, Lisa B, Lee C, Mike D, Roy W, Walter M, Pat S, Winslow G, David W, David F, Rini L, and Dave C.
